STEPS AND GETTING STARTED
First Contact
Call me or send me an email and I can let you know if I am available on your wedding date. You can
ask some questions. If you are happy to proceed to the next step we can then arrange our first meeting,
which is obligation free.
First Meeting
This will give you an opportunity to meet me and decide if you want me to conduct your wedding.
There is no Obligation and no cost to go ahead at this meeting.
At this meeting we can talk about your specific ceremony and how I can help you.
Together we will complete a Notice of Intended Marriage.
You need to bring your Births certificates (originals) and Decree Absolute (if you have previously
been married). For people born outside of Australia we require Passport or a Birth Certificate.
The Notice of Intended Marriage has to be lodged 1 month and 1 day prior to the intended marriage
date (A shorter period can be arranged in some circumstances).
I can hold the completed documents or you can take them with you and fax them back to me if you
decide you want me to be your celebrant.
Second Meeting
You will chose you service and vows from a selection of ceremonies I have or we can make adjustments
and plan you own service. These are available for perusal at the first meeting.
After this meeting feel free to phone me or email me with any concern as many times as you need to.
This is your day and I will do my best for you. Also you will need to leave a deposit at this meeting.
Rehearsal
I always do rehearsals with the bridal party on site a few days before hand. don't worry if some of bridal party cannot attend the rehearsal. Try to have parents, any one who is reading a passage or a poem, singers and musicians
etc so your weeding ceremony can be well timed and flows. The position of the table for signing
the register needs to be established as well.
I will also ask you to sign a Form 14 Declarations, which I would have prepared for you. A Statutory
Declaration, stating that there is no reason why you shouldn't marry.
I also ask that the full account be settled at this time.
Your Wedding Day
My role on the day is to coordinate with all involved (including your guests, photographer, musicians,
venue organizers etc) and ensure that you can be calm and relaxed. And, that your wedding ceremony
meets all your expectations.
The idea is that on your wedding day you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
You should be enjoying it!
I will arrive at least 30 minutes before the service to help welcome your guests and make sure that all
is in order.
Lodgement of Legal documents
I will lodge all documents in a timely and accurate manner.
Afterwards
I will leave you with a ceremonial Certificate of Marriage which will be laser printed in a font of your
choosing and a copy of your personalised Wedding Ceremony.
The next day I will lodge the original Certificate of Marriage and other documents with Births, Deaths
and Marriages to finalise the legal process.
Change of Name for Bank Accounts or other legalities
If you require a copy of your Certificate of Marriage (Example: for change of name purposes) I suggest
you complete the application I can provide, which I can then submit for you when I lodge all other
documents.
The document will then be posted to your nominated address and be ready when you return from your
honeymoon.
